Mono 1.0, the free open source version of Microsoft’s .NET framework has now been released and is downloadable from here. Now one can run .NET programs on Linux, *GNU, Mac OS X and naturally Windows. Very nice! :D

I must confess that I like C# way much more than Java and apparently I can now extend my programming to other platforms as well…

FUN: Conan O’Brien “Spammed” By Finns
22 June 2004 in Root | Comments (0)

Sometime ago, Conan O’Brien started a postcard campaign “Conan hates my homeland”, where he asked people from around the world to send him postcards. The first postcard to arrive at Rockefeller Center with Conan’s name on it, was from Finland. (Guess our postal service is fast ;) ) The postcard, a Nokia Hakkapellita tyre ad-postcard which had a profane greeting (in Finnish, silly), resulted in Conan making a bad joke about Finland. And he even asked for more postcards from Finland!

Put Quran in your phone

Just saw something new and eye-opening over at PDAGold: freeware PocketQuran for Microsoft Smartphones! I’m not much of a religious books reader, but I like to inspect the software implementions of them and browse through their hi-tech features. The interesting fact with this piece of software is that it doesn’t require Arabic support on the smartphone! Now, my Arabic isn’t that good, so I can not say how well this can be read on a Smartphone screen.

Oh, and remember that the text is read from right-to-left not in the same way as we “westeners” do (left-to-right)…

Remember when VGA was new and hot?…

… Well, now small Pocket PCs are taking the step into VGA resolutions and Toshiba is showing us the way. Over at Pocket PC Tools you can have a look at real action screenshots taken on an upgraded Toshiba e800.
The images are JPEG compressed, so what you see is definately not what you get. Some programs also seem to look better in VGA than other — with some toolbar icons looking awfully small… :P

Now this is just too cool to be true, almost: ActivePrint is a program that givews your Pocket PC the ability to print 60 different document types via your PC. This happens whenever you dock your Pocket PC and happen to have something to print in the printing queue on your PPC. For more info, see the ActivePrint webpage. Source: Pocket PC Addict.
