REVIEW: XDA II / iMate PPCPE Compact Flash + VGA Backpack

Arne Hess has gotten a nice review of the backpack for XDA II/ iMate PPCPE phones. The backpack that boasts a compact flash slot and VGA output is an attractive feature for things like presentations. I thought it looked like a good idea, but after reading Arne’s review, I’m seeing that this backpack isn’t that fitting for daily use after all.

Got around 100 euros lying around and want to buy a new phone?
Well, the Nokia NGage is now selling for just above 100 euros in Finland. And make note of the fact that the price is unsubsidised (but includes tax)! If you don’t mind buying it with the issues it has (”taco talking”, remove battery to replace game), it is just a steal with these features:
- High-performance mobile 3D gaming
- Gaming-optimized design and functionality
- Bluetooth wireless technology
- Digital music player and recorder
- Stereo FM radio
- Multimedia messaging
- Full email support (IMAP4, POP3, SMTP, MIME2)
- Content with XHTML browser
- Tri-band EGSM 900/GSM1800/GSM 1900 phone
- Series 60 UI enabling application multitasking
- MP3, AAC, MIDI, and WAV ringing tones
- WAP over GPRS
For example, Verkkokauppa.com (Finnish, non-affiliate) has it selling for less than 109 euros.
Now, I believe that this is the cheapest Bluetooth phone on the Finnish market (not counting second hand phones, naturally). Furthermore, this is not a bad deal considering the features it’s got. However, this model is nearing its end-of-life and as a result, we’re seeing this price on the model…
