Melancholic hurrah…

We, Europeans are in for a “treat”. As the BBC reports in EU backs tighter rules on piracy, the EU parliament has passed an anti-piracy law that gives the European RIAA-equivalents the right to act as policing authorities. At least, that is what it looks like for the moment.
Wheather of not this law will be applicable in Finland, remains to be seen. I believe that it cannot as the laws here do not permit such. If I remember right, the police is the only (policing) authority and that’s the end of story. Besides, the new piracy law collides with a number of in effect privacy laws, depending on how you read the law book.
I’m still hoping that the EU will not turn into the USA post-DMCA…
Win A Super-Duper Pocket PC!

I found this cool raffle going on at Tripod Data Systems: Win a TDS Recon rugged handheld computer
It is an IP 67-rating, MIL-STD-810F (USA) military standard, rugged Pocket PC! It is supposedly capable of handeling -30 degrees Celcius up to 60 degrees, drops, dunks in water - dirt and anything inbetween. If I win it, I’ll have to test it with Finnish weather and see if it can handle it (that is, if I even dare doing that…) ![]()
